PMP Exam Application

The applicants for the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Exam have been frequent these days. But they need to fill up an application form to qualify for the exam. This Certification is as important as studying for your major exams on college. However, it is more special than that. It is because you are required to take a PMP training course and professional experience before filing in.

You can start preparing by passing an initial application. In this application, you are going to write the experience and training you've accomplished and projects you have lead and managed. However, this application varies on what degree you are holding to:

APPLICATION

High school diploma: If you only finished high school, you are only required to gather 60 months of professional experience as a project manager and 35 contact hours of project management training. Then record at least 7,500 hours of leading and directing project's tasks.

Bachelor's degree: You only need to cover up 36 months worth of your PMP experience. Just like the diploma holders, you are required to have 35 hours of project management training. As for your experience, you need to record 4,500 hours in leading and managing projects.

If you have completed all the necessary requirements, you will receive a letter that you are verified to take the exam. You will receive a set of auditing if ever the PMI found your application okay. After submitting your initial application, you have been given 90 days to complete everything.

Anyway, the Project Management Institute (PMI) is having their professional auditors and writers to review your application and confirm that what you have written in the application form is true and valid. You are given 5 days to continue the intial review process. They will be checking the projects you have managed and thoroughly examine it.

Professional auditors and writers is, unfortunately, not able to review all of the applicants' forms. This auditing method is randomly done by the PMI to assure the PMP training and experience is kept after the approval. So all you have to do now is complete your training course and you got 1 year for that.

Now that you already passed an application, it's time for you to do some preparation. The first thing you need to do is study. Just like when you were at school, study everything that you need to learn for greater chances in passing the exam.

I know that a lot of people are studying but most of them weren't able to memorize what they are studying or understand it. For me, an effective way of studying is to use your own style in doing so. Every person has their own manner and methods in learning. Use it and try to understand the topic your own way. You could start by reading PMP materials and manuals. Understand project management theories and try applying it. Then, if you are confident of yourself, you can now practice with sample test questions. See where you are strong and at the same time, where you're weak. Train yourself to answer all 200 questions within 4 hours. Always remember to keep yourself calm; don't get too nervous. If you do, you will have the tendency to forget what you have learned or mental blocked.

Applying for a PMP Exam is not that difficult. Just focus on studying and train yourself to answer every question with confidence. Most adults prepare themselves for at least 5-7 hours a week. I'm sure you could do it. All of these are surely enough for you to achieve your goal on becoming a certified Project Management Professional.
