The "Break-In" Process For a New American V-Twin Motorcycle

There's a reason new motors are 'tight" and not as responsive as ones that have had several miles put on them and that's because all the moving parts haven't "broken-in" yet. Friction is a key factor in a new motor because of how tight everything fits together and with a high amount of friction, you end up with a loss of power.

A new motor will actually work against itself until all the internal moving parts develop the wear pattern of least resistance. Because of the tight fits of the components there's friction and friction produces heat, which in turn causes the motor to expand which causes the parts to work against each other instead of functioning in a smooth uniform way.

PRICE CHOPPER APPLICATION

If you've just bought a new motorcycle or have installed a new motor in the one you currently own, if you start running it real hard without going through the "break-in" process, you will cause the engine to produce excess amounts of friction and heat, the number one enemy of an air cooled engine. These two elements will shorten the life of all the moving parts inside the motor and end up producing a significant amount of metal filings and grindings within the motor and that's not a good thing.

This is the reason that someone who has taken a brand new engine and rides the crap out of it may initially experience better performance than someone who takes the time to follow a proper break-in process because the carefully broken in motor is still developing a minimum resistance wear pattern.

So which motor will last longer? Which one is faster? A correctly ridden V-Twin custom motorcycle or Harley Davidson really doesn't get completely broken in until somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 miles. At that point, you'll start to notice your bike will pick up speed and power because the friction on the internal parts has been gradually and carefully reduced as much as possible setting the stage for a long lasting motor.

On the other hand, the motor that has been run hard will still be running good and loose, but you can bet components such as piston rings to cylinder walls and valve to valve seat fitment is going to be aging well before its time and this will cause less compression which will affect the performance. It may not happen at 10,000 miles or even 20,000 miles, but it will happen much sooner that a properly broken-in motor.

You probably know the general rule of thumb is to ride a new motorcycle or new engine replacement at least 500 miles for the initial break-in. But the break-in process can actually happen in as little as 100 miles or as much as 800 miles depending on the metallurgy of the internal components, the type of oil used and what your riding habits are.

If you ride your motorcycle at a constant speed during the break in period, it'll cause the rings to glaze and lose their sealing qualities. What you should do is slowly increase and decrease the revs as you go through the gears. It takes some patience to do this for 500 miles, but it will work out for you much better in the long run.

Another thing you want to try to avoid is letting a new motor sit and idle especially on a hot day. Keep in mind that the V-twin motor is air-cooled and with all the excess heat being generated from the break in of new components, you need to keep air flowing over those cooling fins. If you live in an area where it's real hot you may want to consider night riding for your break in period. The key thing is to just use some common sense in how you treat your bike. Take care of it and it will take care of you!

American Chopper Games for the Aspiring Young Rider

One of the best things about the American Choppers is that it gives fathers and sons of America something to bond over. The interactions that come within watching the show and talking about the manly motor stuff truly goes beyond the actual conversation. It is true that any help men can get in terms of ways they can better bond with their sons truly make an impact. Here is a great universal game you can use to get the dads involved in a father-son celebration moment: the American Choppers Treasure Hunt.

chopper

Okay, so what do you need to do? It is quite simple really; you will make a list of manly-toys (otherwise known as tools) to hide and create a treasure hunt. When preparing your list of tolls for this game, definitely enroll the father-type figure to assist in figuring out what what-cha-ma-hooz and gimo-de-gadgets to include in your list. A simple stroll through the garage should be sufficient.

Once the list is done, gather the items on the list and hide them prior to the big hunt. A helpful hint is to record where each item is hidden so as not to have to deal with a crabby daddy with missing tools later on. Now once they are hidden, get creative and make a list of fun riddles to help find the items.

When the party games start, get ready for a great time. Prepared with a list of riddles in hand, one adult and one child pair up before they head out on this adventure. Search within the pre-designated area for the items on the list. Herein you can have a lot of fun by including prizes for those that gather the most items, the least items, and specific items on the list. Last but not least, remember to have fun and remain in good spirits.

CHOPPER

This American Chopper party game is fun for the kids and is meant to be played while sitting down so the adults at the party can relax a bit too. Get everyone at the party in a circle and tell them that the group is going to start up one of the great motorcycles that have been tricked out on American Chopper. You'll start the motorcycle by saying zoom and the person next to you will repeat zoom and this will continue from person to person around the circle. Then you'll try and get the motorcycle going a bit faster by trying to get everyone to repeat 'zoom' faster and faster. Any person can stick out their arms and yell 'Eek!' when the zoom reaches them to stop the motorcycle. Though the motorcycle has to go into reverse when this happens. Whoever just said 'zoom' will say it again and the person before that and so on until someone stops the motorcycle again.

Chopper's Slogans:

Make up a bunch of slips of paper with the names of each of the guys and gals from the American Chopper party on them. You can list one person two or three times to make enough slips so everyone at the party can choose a name. Have each person draw one slip from a hat and give them each a pencil and paper. Have each person create a fitting American Chopper slogan for the American Chopper employee that's been drawn.

For the hardest part of the American Chopper party games each person has to begin each word of the American Chopper slogan with a letter from the character's name. Then everyone will read their slogans out loud and you'll pick the best.

The kids will really enjoy these two American Chopper party games. If you play some episodes of the show and have lots of good food at the party you'll have an even better time.

The American Citizenship Application Fee

The U.S.Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is the government agency that is in charge of the whole immigration process in the United States.

application server with raid-5 storage

Foreign nationals applying for a visa or green card have to file certain petitions/applications either at the American Consulate abroad or with the USCIS if he/she is in the US. These applications/petitions can be found at the uscis website. In addition to this website, there are many private organizations who have these forms on their website and charge a fee for assisting their users in preparing and filing the applications/petitions. The USCIS is the authority that manages these applications/petitions and makes a decision on these..

APPLICATION

Eligible green card holders aspiring to become US citizens have to file Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. When the USCIS proposed a fee hike for immigration applications/petitions, there was deep concern that there would be a fall in the number of citizenship applications filed. In addition to this, when the USCIS proposed to revise the English and Civics test, many feared that immigrants might be discouraged about upcoming revisions to the U.S. civics test and thought the tests would be made tougher.

Some believed the fee hike for the Naturalization application would prevent many from applying for citizenship. Though the fee was revised for many other petitions/applications, the USCIS did not change the submission fee for the citizenship application.

The submission fee for the citizenship form is 5 and an additional fee is required for biometrics. Applicants must send the fee with his/her application else the application will be returned.. Applicants have to pay the fee with a check or money order drawn on a US bank payable to the Department of Homeland Security. While writing, do not use the initials DHS or USDHS. Also note that USCIS does not accept cash.

Applicants residing in Guam should address the fee payable to the "Treasurer, Guam,"and residents of the US Virgin Islands should make the fee payable to the "Commissioner of Finance of the Virgin Islands."

The Fees for biometric services is separate from the 5 application fee. In a few occasions, the USCIS may also take your photograph and signature as part of the biometric services. Another important point is that, the submission fee is not refundable even if you voluntarily withdraw your application or even if your case is rejected.

Persons applying for naturalization based on their service in the Armed Forces of the United States need not pay the filing fee. Additionally, applicants 75 years or older, or filing on the basis of one's service in the Armed Forces of the US, or if filing from outside the US, need not pay for biometrics.

Applications not including the submission fee will be returned thus delaying the citizenship process, that normally itself is a lengthier process. So applicants should make sure their application package has the application, the required supporting documents and the submission fee. Also care should be taken to ensure it is mailed to the correct USCIS address. Being careless in these would result in unnecessary delay.

Applicants who cannot afford to pay the submission fee can ask for a "fee waiver" from USCIS. If USCIS grants such request, they will accept the US citizenship application with the applicant not having to pay the fee. If the request is rejected, the USCIS will return the application and he/she has to reapply and pay the fee.

American Chopper Games for Your Kids Motorcycle Theme Party

Every great party needs some fun party games to keep the guests interested. This goes for kids party's too. As the party host you'll want to keep them entertained so they don't get bored and start running around to create some entertainment of their own. You'll thank yourself later for using the following game ideas at your American Chopper Party. These two games are really two parts of one activity that will keep the kids entertained for a few hours. First have the kids compete in the great Cardboard American Chopper contest, then each group gets to partake in The American Chopper Relay.

chopper frames

For the first game have the kids break up into teams so they can develop and create their own American Choppers out of cardboard. You'll need to provide the kids with some large cardboard sheets, scissors, lots of markers, glue, construction paper, and aluminum (for the metallic look). This will be a supervised project so you'll need to help the kids with cutting and designs. The choppers are easier to make when you have the kids create two dimensional versions on cardboard cut out to look like a motorcycle, but if you have the inclination go ahead and attempt a three dimensional cardboard bike. After the bikes are created and lined up have the parents get together and give awards and prizes to the bikes based on creativity, color, effort, best team, and any other category you like.

CHOPPER

When the choppers are dry and everyone's had some cake assemble for The American Chopper Relay. Everyone stays in their design team but space them out as you would for a relay race. The point being to 'race' their team's chopper from one end of the 'racetrack' to the other, and the kids will hand off their choppers to each of the team members along the track. Give an award to the first place team.

Decorate the garage with motorcycling memorabilia and posters. On your invitations, ask everyone who has a motorbike to turn up in their riding gear. These two elements will make for great photo opportunities.

There are bikers of every age group - males and females from teenagers to seventy year olds, people for whom being on a bike on the open road is the closest thing to being in heaven. As such you'll have to provide food and beverages that will be popular with everyone. Make sure there is plenty of beer (unless you're underage), as well as things such buffalo wings, steak or pizza. Have the party in the garage, so everyone who has brought their bike can park it in the drive.

As an alternative, don't supply alcohol. Instead, the bikers can gather, enjoy the food and atmosphere of the party and take off together for a ride afterwards. This a great way to top off an enjoyable afternoon.

Planning an American Chopper party can almost be as enjoyable as the party itself. And as well as being a novel way to celebrate a special occasion, your American Chopper party can be a way for your motorcycle-mad guests (who mightn't already know each other) to make new friends who share their passion.
