Application of Slurry Grouting

With the advent in technology, we have new and better improvements in the field of science and engineering. One of such innovation is the slurry grouting. This is also popularly known as cement grouting. This is one of the effective grouting techniques used worldwide. There are many factors, which are responsible for choosing one technique over other.

applications and investigations in earth science

In slurry grouting, we make use of materials such as cement, clay (especially bentonite), sand additives, fly ash, micro-fine cement, along with proper proportion of lime and water.

APPLICATION

There are different, but related applications for slurry grouting. Some of them are discussed as below:

Laying rock foundations for the treatment of dams. It is very important for dams, as they should withstand all creeps.

To cut-off curtains in rocks. This is important, as it saves on tedious work required to cut the hardened rock beds, which are deep-rooted to earth's mantle.

It is used to inject pressure through anchors. This is a unique feature of this technique, as it saves the use of any other instruments for creating the pressure inside anchors.

It is also used for stabilizing the presence of gravels in the land for ground improvement. Stabilization is important here, as it paves way for a better construction.

It also stabilizes shot rocks. This is quite an important aspect in ground improvement. It lays base for making constructions.

Expansive soil can be used in stabilization of lime slurry grouting.

Thus, there are various applications of cement grouting. In particular, using cement grouting is advantageous if volume batches are required. These techniques are widely used in the construction industries especially for laying foundations.

Thus, their use for ground improvement in construction industries is what that makes them more appealing and widespread among contractors.
