Cosmetic Application Techniques

There are several cosmetic application techniques that are used by top Tinseltown makeup artists and professional stylists on runways models and Hollywood actresses, both on movie sets and for special events across the world. These techniques apply to women of all ages. These techniques will really bring out your best features, and help camouflage areas you feel may need a little more help or a radiance boost.

Eyeshadow Color Choices and Application Techniques

Foundation: Color Choice and Application Technique

Foundation is one of the most important cosmetics you will purchase and use. It is absolutely imperative that you pick the right shade of foundation. Pick a shade lighter than your skin tone and try to stay away from reddish or pink tones, as they tend to look very "pink" and ruddy in artificial lighting, and can make your skin appear uneven and flushed.

Foundation Application Technique

It is not negotiable that you apply your foundation with a makeup pad. There are some really excellent sponge makeup applicators right now that are used by makeup artists, and are a favorite of women everywhere who want to get the most natural and well blended look from their foundation.

Makeup sponges create wonderful, even finish since they make it nearly impossible to put too much foundation on, due to their absorption of excess liquid. Be sure to thoroughly blend the makeup with the sponge, covering each and every area of the face evenly and equally, including right up to the hairline, and even on the neck, so that there is not an obvious "line" where your foundation ends and your real neck color begins!

Eyebrows: Shaping, Arching and Pencil Application Technique

Eyebrow pencils are also one of the most important cosmetics in your beauty collection and daily makeup routine. Carefully choose the pencil color to be a shade lighter than your natural
eyebrow color. This way, it will look more natural, instead of obviously "drawn on". When tweezing, follow the natural arch and shape of the brow bone and be sure to tweeze any stray
hair often, for a clean and classic eyebrow shape like those coveted brows of celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta Jones.

Eyeliner: How to Select Color, and Application Technique

Eyeliner is a great cosmetic for accentuating, dramatizing, and bringing out your natural eye color and enhancing or even changing the shape of the eye. As with all other essential
cosmetics, there is a specific technique for getting perfect results from eyeliner application. Brown is one of my personal favorites since it is so versatile and looks good on everyone in the daytime and at night. Brown can also be applied sparingly for a great, light daytime look, or more heavily for a smudgy, smoldering night time look.

Black eyeliner should probably be reserved for nights out on the town, or any night time usage, since black tends to be too severe in the natural daylight, and can actually wash you out and magnify complexion imperfections during the day when sun light is at its peak. If you still want to wear black during the day, that's fine. Just choose a more muted shade of black, such as a slate gray or a "grey black" - which is a great color between black and grey that many cosmetics companies are now offering.

Now that you know what color to use for eyeliner, here's the technique for applying it. Start with a sharp eyeliner pencil, lining the rim of your eye as close to the lower row of eyelashes as you can get without getting any of the cosmetic in your eye.

With a sponge-tipped cosmetics smudger, gently smudge the line you created using a gentle horizontal back and forth movement. You should always smudge your eyeliner at least a little bit - more if you want it more dramatic, or smokey looking. Eyeliner that has not been smudged looks to artificial and too severe. All good makeup jobs that you've seen are the result of good smudging!

If you want to make your eyes appear larger, use a bright white eye liner pencil (I know it seems weird, but trust me on this) on the very inner corners of the lower lid. This is a great trick that makeup artists use to create an optical illusion that the eyes are larger and brighter in color.

Eyeshadow: Color Selection and Application Technique

The first rule of thumb for this excellent and versatile, face altering cosmetic is to stay away from colors with pink, red or auburn hues, and these do not flatter most skin types. These tones actually tend to bring out the red, bloodshot look in the eyes, and make the eyes appear smaller than they really are, which I don't think is what any of us are aiming for!

Whether you wear browns, blues, greys or purples, make sure you have a nice pale nude or near white, slightly shimmery for the tops of your eyes, near the brow bone. Apply eyeshadow
with a small, preferably fine haired or natural hair cosmetic brush. Don't go cheap on the brushes - you'll be sorry - you will get a superior finish and excellent durability if your spend a little more on a professional eyeshadow/eyeliner brush.

Brushes work much better than the small sponge-like applicators that usually come with most cosmetic cases when you buy eyeshadow at the store. Some of the new shimmery eye creams and squeeze tube liquid matte eyeshadows are also great for non-crease and lasting color - just be careful not to load up too much or it will look creased. Always apply eyeshadow a little more heavily on the crease between the upper and lower lid to add more depth and dimension to your eyes, and make them appear larger. Then, add the paler color to the top for added depth and perceived size.

Motor Scooter History

The Reitwagen/Hildebrand & Wolfmueller

The history of motor scooters dates back to the 1800s. Gottlieb Daimler's Reitwagen of 1885 was one of the earliest scooter models but only served as an experimental application for the engine. It was not manufactured in a series or developed any further. The first well-documented and successful example of motor scooters that was available for purchase was the Hildebrand & Wolfmueller. This scooter was patented in Munich, Bavaria. The Hildebrand & Wolfmueller was one with a step-through hollow tube frame which used a twin cylinder water-cooled engine, both of which were well advanced for that day and age. The rear wheel was driven by pistons similar to those of a train, and used heavy rubber bands to provide a return impulse rather than rotational inertia. Only a few hundred of this model were ever built. This scooter though not a significant commercial success, did pave the way for power driven transportation. Apart from the high purchase price, there were some technical issues with the model such as absence of a clutch. This venture ended up as a financial failure for both Wolfmuller and Hildebrand, and no further improvements were made until post WWII.

The Vespa

Following our second world war when technological advancements and development were at an alltime low in Italy, financial support was granted by the Italian government to companies which were engaging in producing innovated vehicles. Ferdinado Innocenti of Milan brought forth the modern scooter. Along with the designer Corrandino D'ascanio, Piaggio's engineer designed, constructed, and flew the first modern helicopter, and based on the earlier military motorcycles, the first blueprint designs were produced of a motor scooter resembling the one that we know today.

D'Ascanio couldn't stand motorcycles, so he set out to design a simple, sturdy, and economical vehicle that was comfortable yet elegant. The first Vespa was produced in 1946, and had a 98cc engine and a top speed of 47mph. In 1948, the first 125cc Vespa was manufactured. Upon seeing the vehicle, Enrico Piaggio remarked "Sembra una Vespa!" ("It looks like a wasp!"), because it did not at all resemble an uncomfortable and noisy motorcycle. The steel frame's shape protected the rider from road dirt and debris and the shape was elegant. By 1949, 35,000 motor scooter units had been produced and a million by 1960. By that time they were also manufactured in Germany, Great Britain, France, Belgium, Spain, and of course, Italy.

Vespa has had several images. It was first the two-wheeler of the post war economic boom, then, during the anti-Vietnam war years, a symbol for revolutionary ideas and social alienation.

The Lambretta

Back to early scooter beginnings, Innocenti, in collaboration with Pierluigi Torre, went on to produce the Lambretta, which made its first appearance at the 1947 Paris Motor Show. When gasoline was strictly rationed, the new Lambretta was highly economical getting better than 160 mpg. With a 123cc engine and achieving a maximum speed of 45 mph, the new scooter was extremely successful.

Scooters in Asia

In Japan, Taiwan, Tailand, and much of the Orient, motor scooters rule the roads. Taiwan has a population of 23 million, of these 23 million 11 of them own registered motor scooters.

Scooters in America

Following Cushman in the 1950s, many manufacturers all over the world have come out with fascinating designs for the American scooter market. The Italian scooters Vespa, Lambretta, Benelli, Piaggio, Gilera, and Malaguti followed a grand tradition but were later joined by China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Spain, England, and Germany who produced such scooters as Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Phantom, Aprilia, Annata, Roketa, Peugeot, Tank Bandit, and many more.

What to Buy Now

The is a current battle between the revival of the classic motor scooters ; the somewhat cheaper established brands of Japan and Taiwan: Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kycmo, with their dealers and worldwide support; and several inexpensive lines of Korean and Chinese scooters. Support with some imports can be irregular and sometimes non-existent, so it is essential for one to do business with a reputable dealer who will handle registration and other details. The Chinese models, Roadrunner, Tank, Phantom, Annata, Roketa, Rascal range in price from 1/3 to 1/2 those of equivalent Japanese models. Roadrunner, Tank, Annata, Roketa, Chaunl, and Phantom come from reputable companies.

Six Tips For Proper Care of a New Tattoo

Before getting into the tips for taking proper care of your new tattoo it is important that you follow your tattoo artist's directions that were provided to you. If by chance their directions are different than the ones provided in this article, always refer to their instructions. However if no instructions were provided to you then this is what you need to know.

Naturally now that you have went and have a new tattoo you will want to take extra good care of its healing! From the moment you leave the tattoo shop your tattoo artist is no longer accountable for the care of your tattoo and any infections you may have. So it remains very important for you to follow these steps. You would not want your beautiful new tattoo to turn into an infected sore if not taking the proper care.

PRICE CHOPPER APPLICATION

1. Leave the Bandage Alone

The artist that you chose took great care in covering up your new tattoo for you for a good reason. That reason is to keep any air borne bacteria or pathogens from invading the sore. Even though it is a tattoo it is still a sore. As with any sore the open flesh is now a hotbed for infections and bacteria. You will need to leave the covering on for a minimum of two hours. I know you're excited about it and want to show it off to your friends and family the minute you see them but you need to be patient.

There is one rule we can make an exception on and that is if your artist covered your tattoo with any type plastic covering. This covering could be extremely injurious to your new tattoo. So if this is the case then you do need to remove the plastic wrap as soon as possible. You are better off not having any sort of covering than having it covered in a plastic wrap.

2. Treating and Washing

After the two hour minimum time period for leaving your covering on then it is time to remove it. After removing the covering you will want to treat and wash your new tattoo. For cleaning the sore you will need to wash it with tepid water and a mild antibacterial soap. Lightly wash away any salve left behind and blood or plasma to entirely clean the area. Avoid using anything that is scratchy! It is actually best to wash the tattoo with your hand. Of course wash your hands first in the same soap.

After washing you will need to pat dry (do not massage) the tattoo firmly with a clean towel to get thoroughly dry. Follow up with a light application of your choice of ointments.

3. Specialty Lotions and Products

There are specialty products that you can use, if you choose, such as Tattoo Goo and H2Ocean and ask your pharmacist about over the counter products that work. Use these products as directed for 3-5 days.

After the 3-5 days have passed you should continue to keep your tattoo soft and supple. This can be done with the use of lotions. Remember whatever lotion you choose it must be fragrance and dye free.

4. Showering, Bathing, Swimming and Hot Tubs

You should continue to shower with a new tattoo just as you normally do as it will not harm your tattoo in anyway. Water will not cause any type of damage or infection of a tattoo as long as your tattoo is not soaking in the water. Soaking your tattoo in bath water or any water will cause severe damage and will want to be avoided for a bare minimum of 2-3 weeks. As said showering is fine to do as long as you do not stand and let the water continuously be on the tattoo. If you happen to get shampoo or soap on the tattoo then simply rinse it off quickly. Swimming, whether it is in a pool or ocean salt water should also be avoided for at least 2 weeks.

5. Scabbing and Flaking

It is quite possible after a few days if you notice some flaking and little scabbing. Extreme scabbing could be an indicator of a poorly done tattoo but if it's only a small amount then this is perfectly normal. There is absolutely no need to panic. If it does happen to scab then apply tepid moist (not soaked) compresses to the scabbed area for about 5 minutes 2-4 times a daily. This will help to alleviate the scab helping it to eventually come off on its own. Never apply ointment or lotions to a softened scab-simply wait for it to dry on its own. You could also start to itch, much like sunburn when it is beginning to heal. My advice for this is to ignore it. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH AT A SCAB. If it is flaking then simply put lotion on it and if it's scabbing then leave it alone. This means your tattoo is almost healed and now is not the time for you to mess it up.

6. Safeguarding from the Sun

After your new tattoo has healed you will want to safeguard it from the sun's harmful rays as they could fade or damage your new tattoo. So before going out in the sunshine for any excessive period of time you will want to place a sun block with at least an SPF of 30 or higher on your tattoo. This will keep your new tattoo brilliant and colorful for many years to come.

The Chopper

A chopper is a motorcycle but not the traditional type. Choppers are motorcycles that have been radically modified by the owner or even the manufacturer. Choppers are motorcycles that have a few less features than a regular motorcycle. The chopper came into existence following World War II when soldiers came back to the United States and began modifying their motorcycles. The soldiers removed any part of their motorcycle that was unnecessary, too big, too ugly and too heavy. The parts that were removed were the fenders, the front brakes and turn indicators. Most motorcycles also have a spring saddle, but not choppers. Choppers have the spring saddle removed from the frame so that the driver can sit as low to the ground as possible. Most choppers are made with a v-twin engine.

chopper rolling chassis

The main reason for redesigning and editing a motorcycle into the form of a chopper was to prepare the bike for dirt track racing and even mud racing. Removing all of the heavy, unwanted and unnecessary parts made the bike lighter and easier to handle in a high speed race. The large front tire is replaced with a smaller one and so is the headlight and the fuel tank. Most motorcycles have a large fuel tank but choppers have a smaller fuel tank to lighten the load of the bike. As required by law, almost all choppers across the country have to have protective bars for the driver installed. Those bars, which are on the back of the bike and stick straight up in the air, are often referred to as 'sissy bars.' More often than not the 'sissy bars' can be seen over the driver's head when looking at a chopper from the front of the bike.

CHOPPER

The reason for returning soldiers from World War II to work on their motorcycles was that the majority of them had been trained by the United States to work on automobiles and heavy machinery while in the armed forces. They were trained to repair these vehicles while on the battlefield and while at the camp in case of breakdown or other technical problems. Almost all of these soldiers weren't even mechanics before joining the service.

There are a handful of companies across the country and the world that produce choppers. Jesse G. James' West Coast Choppers, Orange County Choppers, Indian Larry, Falcon Motorcycles, Warlock Motorcycles and Von Dutch Kustom Cycles are just a few companies that manufacture chopper motorcycles.

Where did the term chopper come from? Well, when the servicemen originally began chopping up and welding the frame of their motorcycles the term chopper was born. Choppers are not only popular in the United States but have become wildly popular in Australia, where ATV and dirt bike racing is also incredibly popular among the sports fans. Choppers have become so popular in the United States that even bicycles are being manufactured to have the look and feel of a chopper motorcycle. So now, even kids can ride a chopper if their parents don't own one.
